The wind turbines and the wind masts are setup with sensors, which acquire
fluid-dynamic, functional and structural measures. These measurements are
recorded by an acquisition system located at the wind farm and then sent
out to the Turbomachinery Laboratory at the Faculty of Engineering to be
post-processed. At the Experimental Wind Farm we currently installed the
following turbines:
|

|
Upwind Tri-bladed
Turbine:
- rated power = 20 kW
- rotor diameter = 8 m
- rotor hub height = 18 m
- Jimp20 model (Jonica Impianti Coop.)
|
|

|
Downwind Bi-blade
Turbine:
- rated powe = 11 kW
- rotor diameter = 13 m
- rotor hub height = 18 m
- Gaia model (Gaia-Wind A/S)
|
|

|
Microturbine:
- rated powe = 1 kW
- rotor diameter = 1,8 m
- rotor hub height = 9 m
- Airdolphin model (Zephyr Corp.)
|
|

|
Two
anemometric towers:
The wind masts are equipped with wind vanes and cup anemometers at 9 and
18 m. Additionally, a sonic anemometer at 18 m is installed, as well as
temperature, pressure, humidity and rain gages.

|

|
Data capture
system:
The data from the sensors installed on the nacelle and on the turbines’
rotors are acquired by the acquisition system shown in the photography,
and transmitted to the control room by means of WIFI connections.

|

|
Logistic
control centre:
The data recorded in the control room at the
wind farm are pre-elaborated and then sent via Internet to the
Turbomachinery Laboratory.
